Meet the Team

Our team of BCBAs at Understanding Behavior is TOP TIER!! Come learn more about them and their journeys into the best BCBA test prep team around!

Nick Ostosh MA BCBA - Founder

During his first class about behavior analysis as a directionless 19-year old undergraduate student at Western Michigan University (WMU), Nick knew that he found his path and his passion. His obsession over the science brought him to continue into his Master's at WMU where he not only got to teach, but also help refine the design of the course that sparked his initial interest. After graduate school, he continued his passion for teaching behavior analysis at Rogue ABA, further refining his skills while helping 1000s of students pass their BCBA exams. Since late 2023, his focus has been on Understanding Behavior and on the mission to get students excited about behavior analysis while giving them the depth they need to be confident BCBAs, love the science, and pass the exam with
ease. In his off time, you can find him on his skis, bike, paraglider, or being a confident goof on stage or in the wild

Jenny Jones - MA BCBA - Executive Badass

It all started with one class, an Intro to Behavior Analysis elective at Western Michigan University. That was enough for Jenny to pivot her undergraduate path from business into psychology-behavioral sciences and fully commit to what quickly would become a life-changing obsession. She stayed at WMU for her master’s, gaining clinical experience with children at an early intervention center- work that left a lasting impact (so much so, she named one of her own children after a former client). After graduate school, Jenny worked as a BCBA in California and Ohio with Trumpet Behavioral Health and later as an Associate Clinical Director at Ivy Rehab Network, where she dedicated her work to supervisee mentorship, social skills, and helping families and RBTs understand the science. Now based in British Columbia, Jenny sees firsthand the need for confident, competent BCBAs, especially in more remote areas with unique funding barriers, and feels grateful to support students through Understanding Behavior as they work toward passing their exam and serving their own communities in need. Outside of work, you’ll find her working on her social skills passion project, BehaviorBFF, thrift shopping (with excellent justification) and adventuring at the beach and forest with her two girls and husband.

Christal Dougal Williams - MEd BCBA - Instructor

Christal has been fortunate to work as an Intervention Specialist at two different schools that were both based on the science of ABA. At each school, she worked with BCBAs that sparked her interest in the field, which made ABA an easy decision for her Master’s degree. When preparing to test, Christal was also fortunate to be one of the first group of students to take the original Beat the BEAST! Soon afterward, as a newly certified BCBA, she began leading Study Halls and providing tutoring. Christal is a born teacher, and she is passionate about helping other students pass their exams. When she’s not getting nerdy about ABA, Christal enjoys watching movies and going on adventures with her wife, spoiling her dog Lucy and cat Seamus, and doing crafty things like crocheting and painting.

Molly Shireman - MS BCBA - Instructor

Molly fell into behavior analysis as a freshman at the University of Kansas by selecting a random elective and immediately loved the science. Growing up with an autistic brother, she knew that she wanted to help other families who are impacted by disabilities and this was the right career path. After years of undergraduate research assistance and learning from the best at KU, she went down to the University of Houston – Clear Lake to continue research and working at university-based autism clinics. Since graduating in 2015 and passing the exam that summer (back when we had to wait 1.5 months for results), she has worked in private clinics, school settings, and started her own ABA company in Colorado Springs. She also worked as an adjunct professor for Simmons University for 5 years and has provided supervision to many BCBA candidates over the years. Recently, she moved down to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands to support an autism center and spends her free time at the beach, traveling, trail running, at the gym, or with her dog, Roscoe.
